Banks Rowing Club


Banks Rowing Club is one of the oldest, well-known and respected rowing clubs in Australia. For over 150 years they have celebrated an inclusive culture that offers opportunities for athletes at every level, from club to elite.

Banks Rowing Club has fantastic facilities and coaching. The club's boatshed is situated in the heart of Melbourne on the banks of the Yarra River, at the doorstep of Flinders Street Station, Federation Square and Southgate Arts and Leisure precinct.

Banks Rowing Club prides itself on the spirit of achievement by participation where both the club and the individual mutually benefit. The club offer training and competition for rowers of all abilities and ages. These include programmes for Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, Masters & Elite level rowers.

The club has a vibrant social scene and arrange regular events to supplement training and competitions.

If you are looking for a club where you can enjoy your rowing, improve your fitness and technique, and have the opportunity to race with a crew, Banks Rowing Club is the place for you.

Members of the club train throughout the year, however the rowing season in Australia is between September and March. Most crews train towards State Championships which are usually held in February and National Championships which are usually held in March.

We are delighted to have arranged for you to row at Banks Rowing Club and we are confident that you’ll have an extremely enjoyable time at the club.

Club Membership

Sport Lived will pay for your club membership subscription at Banks Rowing Club. Included in this is one head race and your first couple of competitive race meets, as well as all of your coaching and training sessions.

Each extra race meet which cost approximately $25-$50 per event. Rowers over a 6 month program who compete in every regatta offered could expect a statement in the range of $700-$900 for additional events and expenses. You will have access to this statement at any time as your program progresses, to ensure you are informed of the expenses incurred.

You will need to meet any additional costs incurred for attending Bank's training camps (usually held in January), away meets and the National Championships in March requiring entry fees, accommodation and flights etc. that you may be selected to attend.
