Tim Swinson - Past participant news!

Congratulations to Glasgow lock and Sport Lived alumnus Tim Swinson who made his international debut for Scotland against South Africa in Nelspruit. Scotland lost the closely fought encounter against the Springboks 30-17. There were many positives for Scotland’s coaching staff to take from the game including the performance of Swinson whose break in the second half set up a try for Alex Dunbar.

Swinson has come a long way since his Sport Lived rugby union gap year in Australia in 2006.  At the end of his Sport Lived programme Swinson studied at Newcastle University where he was selected to play for the Newcastle Falcons.  He signed for Glasgow at the start of the 2012/13 and he made his Scotland A debut in February 2013, against England Saxons, helping them to win 13-9.

Reflecting on his gap year with rugby correspondent Iain Morrison, Swinson said “If I hadn’t gone to Australia, I wouldn’t be here now”
